Obituary of Frits Leon Andre LEBEER

LEBEER- Frits Leon Andre: Peacefully passed away at Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe Ontario, at the age of 72, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Frits was born in Tielt Belgium on August 2, 1943. Frits will be dearly missed by his wife of 47 years, Greta (nee De Maere), his children: Tina and Philip Werner, Lisa Lebeer and Simon Nelson, and his grandchildren: Mia, Sophie, Elliot and Thomas. Predeceased by his parents, Raymond & Germaine Lebeer, and his brother Frank, he will be forever remembered by his sister, Frieda Heibein (John), sister-in-law Norma Lebeer, his brothers and sisters-in-law from the De Maere family: Marc De Maere (Jeanette), Luke De Maere (Agnes), Rita Navickas (Vic), Linda VanCraenenbroeck (Gerard), Mary Christiaen (Lawrence), Anita Van Damme, Vera De Maere (Larry), John De Maere (Joanne), long-time family friend Laura Allewaert, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Frits settled in Ontario with his family in 1955 when he was 11 years old. Frits spent his early years in Canada working on farms with his family, before becoming a hoisting engineer and dragline operator, which led him to work across south western Ontario including in London, Windsor, Nanticoke and Guelph. An avid fisherman and hunter, Frits loved spending time outdoors. For many years he participated in field trials with his beloved Labrador retriever Ginny, and in 1984 they won the Canadian National Sportsmen’s Dog Show Gold Whistle Award, an accomplishment for which he was very proud. For most of his life he lived, with his family, in Lynedoch in the house that he built with his wife and his brother, Frank. In accordance with Frits’ wishes there will be no formal visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. The family ask for those wishing to make a donation in Frits’ memory to consider The Norfolk General Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
