James Fleet

Obituary of James Douglas Fleet

FLEET, James (Jim) Douglas

Passed away surrounded  by the love of his daughter, Cassandra, son-in-law Kyle, and grandson Kayden on February 18, 2019, in his 79th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Rose. Survived by his step-children Tiffany (Dan), Harry, Ann (Afshin), David (Kim), John (Kathleen), Albert (Kerry), and Alma (Rob). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kyle, Kysen, Gemma, Chris, Leah, Navid, Nicole, Katrina, and Roselyn. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Audrey, and siblings Judy, Alex (Shirley), and Darlene. Will be missed by sisters Linda and Theresa, and brother Andrew. Jim spent over 40 years of his life as a truck driver for Canada Cartage, and was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy, having served from 1962-1967. After retirement, he spent a lot of his time at the local legions throughout Hamilton and Dunnville. He was the guy to make friends with anyone he ran into, especially if they were a Blue Jays fan, and impacted many people’s lives in such a positive way. His kind demeanor and life stories were something he loved to share with everyone. Most days, he could be found outside enjoying a coffee and cigarette, and sparking up a conversation with anyone who walked by. A celebration of life is planned for the spring, with details to be shared at a later date. A special thanks to the nurses at the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital for providing him with the best care anyone could ask for throughout his last few months. www.southcoastfuneralservice.com
